This year, we felt the Lord saying to us, “Meet Me At The Threshing Floor”. This farm instrument, also known as the “harvest rock”, was the place where wheat was first separated from the stalk, processed for food, etc. The first time the threshing floor is mentioned in scripture is in reference to its spiritual significance regarding worship and mourning. It’s the place where Joseph worshipped and mourned, (Gen 50:10), but also the place where David learned how to handle God’s glory. It’s also the place where David separates wrath from mercy through his repentance (2 Samuel 24:23). It’s the place of the miraculous for Gideon, (Judges 6:36) and it’s the place where God threshed the false prophets from the true (1 Kings 22:10). The threshing floor also became the foundation for Solomon’s temple which became the tested foundation that sustained the weighty presence of God’s glory (2 Chronicles 3:2).

The threshing floor represents times of shaking and testing in our lives which can be summed up as the worst of times that resulted in the best of times. God often calls us to go to the threshing floor, not only to repent, mourn or lament but to go to a deeper place of intimacy with Him, resulting in restoration and redemption. To paraphrase Ruth 3:3, Naomi tells Ruth to “Cleanse yourself, anoint yourself, put on your best garments, and meet your kinsman-redeemer at the threshing floor.”  

After this past year of being threshed emotionally, relationally, and separated from loved ones, we feel God is saying, “Meet Me At The Threshing Floor”. We believe that times of refreshing, restoration, and harvest are upon us as we encounter God's presence.
